“The best of 2015 – 2016 ” – 09/06/2016 -30/10/2016

On Thursday, June 9 at 8.00 in the evening Maria Demetriades presents “The Best of 2015 – 2016” at the Medusa Art Gallery – a selection of the best works among those exhibited throughout the season
. 
Maria Vlandi presents a large-scale sculptural construction under the title “PRAXIS II”. The cube- and cylinder-shaped forms that make it up are strongly reminiscent of dismantled architectural members which are freely combined in a kind of ‘asymmetrical symmetry’ to make up a robust work with a clearly contemporary outlook.
 
The subject areas and functions that Eleni Zouni examines in her painting include the forms generated by the hand through automatic and repetitive motions, the importance of rhythm and slowing down during the drawing process, the wise symmetry of the composition but also the dynamic symmetry we find in the morphology of plants, crystals, minerals, organisms and cells.
 
Giorgos Rorris draws his subjects from his everyday surroundings and chooses the familiar confines of his studio as the backdrop for his models. As his work progresses he seeks persistently the particular physical characteristics of each figure, aiming to create a poetic image liberated from the burden of mundane reality
 
Eleni Filippopoulou presents large- and medium-scale works with tempera on handmade paper, with compositions characterised by abstraction and expressiveness.
The landscapes she depicts combine memory and imagination with strong colours and gestures, inviting us to wander around worlds at once familiar and unknown
